MacWorld 2007

Well I've only gone and done it and booked my flight to MacWorld. I've been toying with the idea for months but it's only been the past few days when it's become feasible due to the airfare reducing nearer the time. Booked it with three days to go despite sort of being resigned to the fact I wasn't going to make it! So, if there are any ScreenCastsOnline viewers, fellow podcastors, vendors wishing to show me cool new apps to do screencasts on, anyone who knows the ropes and the best place to see the keynote, anyone who knows where the best functions (ahem) are or generally anyone who wants to hook up and show a MacWorld newbie how to survive MAcWorld 2007, just drop me a note to ScreenCastsOnline@gmail.com and I'll see you there! Next weeks show will be flexible, I might just do some audio or video reports each day or so, or do a full screencast show from my Hotel room an some new fangled software that might have been released! Let's play it by ear!

The Mothership Beckons...

close-encounters-of-the-third-kind-9.jpg

As you are probably aware, MacWorld kicks off next week in San Fransisco. The holy grail for all Mac fans. I'd love to go but... Well, I've checked out some last minute flights and at a push... I can get a good deal on a cheap hotel near to the Moscone..... I could live off burgers for the week but.... It would would mean me staying out for seven days to keep the flight costs down.... What do you think? Would it be worth the expense? Can you see the keynote live from outside of the event (I could only afford a pass to the Exhibit Hall)? I need to decide today! HELP!

EuroMac Podcast

euromac.jpgOne of the casualties of 2006 was the EuroMac Podcast I'd made a rod for my own back by making the pre and post production process much too long and involved. The increased effort required to keep ScreenCastsOnline going and giving it the attention it needed to become my main source of income meant something had to give and the EuroMac was put to bed temporarily. There is still the need for a European perspective on the Mac scene so I haven't completely abandoned the idea of resurrecting the EuroMac some day but not in the near future. However..... There is something in the pipeline that isn't as time consuming as creating my own show each week and yet will still give me the opportunity to reach out to a larger audience with my take on the Mac scene in Europe. Expect an announcement in the next week or so!

New Years Resolutions

Yes. it's that time of the year again!resolve.jpg As well as the usual ones (you know - eat less, exercise more, spend more quality time with the family, etc) I'm going to try some resolutions to help me achieve more this year on the work side and be more focused and productive. Some that spring to mind are:

Switch Off Google Reader and only check it once in the morning, once at Lunchtime and once in the evening! Do not have Mail.app loaded and feel I have to respond to every mail that comes in the minute it comes in! Clear some of the clutter from my desktop and try not to have too many windows open at one time. Try to focus on the task in hand and don't multi task as much. Allocate time slots in the day to work on different projects so they all get progressed. Re-read Getting Things Done by David Allen
Any other suggestions?
