What it was like at the Vista line at CompUSA at The Apple Blog

So I waited in line at my local CompUSA here in San Diego. I fought the rain, some homeless guys for the free barbecue, and when I got out of my tent at midnight I scooted right to the front of the line. Ha! My early wait paid off and I was in and out of the store like greased lightning.

When I bought OS X Tiger I seem to remember people at the store. In fact, I remember being there for two hours, giggling like a school girl every time I found a new cool widget....more at theappleblog

Apple to launch online video sales in Europe

LUXEMBOURG: US computer giant Apple, which launched its online video service in the United States 15 months ago, is about to take its first step into conquering the European market, Luxembourg's economy minister said on Tuesday. "Apple is going to extend its electronic retail activities in Luxembourg by launching this coming spring its iTunes video platform for the sale of videos in Europe," Jeannot Krecke said. According to Krecke, Apple bosses have been in discussion "for several months" with Luxembourg authorities on the implementation of the system

Now that's what I call good news! The only problem now is when in spring - Apple TV, Leopard and now online videos in iTunes all scheduled for Spring! I'd better sit down again :-)

Gates on The Daily Show

Well did you see it? No? Don't worry, you didn't miss much :-( What a wasted opportunity and really, it wasn't even funny. Some of the questions were obviously staged and I'm afraid John Stewart really didn't shine as I thought he would. I sort of knew what was about to unfold as Bill seemed supremely relaxed so I figured everything was pre-agreed. No Hodgman, no reference to Apple, just pretty standard stuff. Did no one think to tell Bill to stay seated at the end - cripes! Ah well! I've done a quick search on YouTube and it's not there yet. Soon will be. Please add a comment if you find a copy on the net!

Another Interview! MyMac.com

Had an email from John Nemerovski of mymac.com just before Christmas asking if I'd like to appear on the mymac.com podcast for a chat.

What with Christmas and Macworld, we finally managed to hook up last week and John has just posted the chat as part of the weekly mymac.com podcast. You can find the podcast here where you can download the show or find links to subscribe in iTunes. It's a fairly long show but I turn up round about 50:04 for 10 minutes or so. The whole podcast is well worth a listen and I've subscribed! Thanks to John for the chat and publishing the podcast.
