New UK Apple Ads

Cool! Another six new Apple "I'm a Mac" ads have just been published to the Apple web site: Link Some more extremely UK based references in this set and some remakes of the US based ads. "Naughty Step" is a bit obscure! Still, great to see they are still producing UK based stuff.

2,000,133 ScreenCastsOnline Downloads!

Yup, On checking my Libsyn stats this morning, we've clicked over the 2 million downloads. This figure is based on the LES - "The LibSyn Estimated Subscribers is an algorithmically derived number that for most users will represent the actual number of unique downloads." The total number of requests is actually 3,666,039 but I'm happy to go with the more accurate 2,000,133. For information, between 21,000 and 25,000 ScreenCastsOnline tutorials are downloaded every week of which a significant part are the back episodes, not just this weeks show. An in case you're wondering why ScreenCastsOnline doesn't often appear in the Libsyn top 20, I figure it's due to the fact that each weekly show is in five (yes five!) different versions and the Libsyn top 20 isn't able to agregate multiple versions of the same show. Thanks to all the Extra! members and the subscribers to the free shows who keep ScreenCastsOnline going by downloading the shows.

I'm A Happy Virgin Customer!

Cable - News - Virgin confirms 20Mbps broadband - Digital Spy

As an end-to-end network owner, cable has inbuilt advantages in the quality of broadband service that we offer,' the company said in its financial results statement today. 'Customers can receive consistent speeds no matter where they live on our network and a top speed of 10Mb is available throughout our broadband addressable areas. We will be increasing this to 20Mb in June and we are also currently conducting a residential trial of a 50Mb broadband service.
