Liverpool Barcamp This Weekend

This weekend sees the launch of the first ever Liverpool Barcamp, which has been put together by Katie Lips of Kisky Netmedia (and many other cool internet initiatives). I've met Katie before (I even interviewed her for the long gone EuroMac Podcast - remember that!) and we've appeared together at various local presentations covering podcasting and social/new media.
She's done a fantastic job of putting it together and assembling a pretty comprehensive list of sponsors, so much so, the event is nearly "sold" out! I say "sold" out but the tickets are free so grab one quick if you're able to come along.

As a local lad, I'm delighted to see such an event so close to home (Podcamp Barcelona and Podcamp SoCal were great - but the commute was a pain :-) ) and I felt obliged to help out and pitch in as a sponsor myself. So ScreenCastsOnline is on the sponsor list and if you're around on Sunday morning, breakfast is on ScreenCastsOnline!
It's the least I could do!
I'm hoping to be there most of Saturday and Sunday morning, so please say hello if you bump into me. I may even do a presentation on podcasting or the genesis of ScreenCastsOnline if anyone wants me to - it's a pretty informal event!
I've included an excerpt from an email that Katie has just sent out below:
We kick off at 10am sharp on Saturday morning, at Novas CUC, Greenland Street. All venue details can be found via the Barcamp Liverpool Website at http://www.barcampliverpool.com
On the Saturday morning we decide who's doing what and when so come early to book your presentation slot.
We've 'sold' over 170 tickets! Which means we're on for a brilliant barcamp event. We've got some amazing sponsors including: Yahoo! Developer Network, Screencasts Online, Mando Group, BBC Backstage, Amaze, Sun Startup Essentials, Glow New Media, Treasuremytext, Phonefromhere, and Liverpool Daily Post.
All of this has been made possible by those guys and ICDC who have kindly sponsored the venue, and loads and loads and loads of operational support.
Our brilliant party sponsor is Microsoft - and the party is going to be rocking! With a "Startup Stars" competition - pitch your company or project idea to win great prizes, 'Pacemaker DJ session', and DJ Conrad; one of Liverpool's finest. (Oh, and did we mention Microsoft is sponsoring the drinks!).....
Barcamp Liverpool is going to be one to remember.
Please get there early to book your slot, please tell your friends abbot the last few remaining tickets - let's see if we can sell out! And please blog about Barcamp Liverpool.
If for any reason you can't make it - just drop me a quick line so I can offer your ticket to someone else.
That's all for now, see you Saturday!
