Studio Revamp

Been incredibly busy over the past few days getting the studio sorted out. The catalyst was the acquisition of a new triple monitor stand from Monitors in Motion - the Triple Boa.

What started off as a seemingly difficult task went very smoothly and the new rig looks brilliant and provides maximum flexibility.

Why I decided to completely re-cable the studio is another matter.

You can see the progress in rapid quicktime (!) in the video below.

I'm curious why you placed the support pole in (what looks to be) the middle of the desk rather than near the back. Surely that would have given you much more room.

I didn't want the centre monitor to be too far away. Although you can adjust the centre monitor angle and rotation, it's distance from the post is fixed.

Looks great Don! Surprising how much work is involved with doing this type of resetting! I have recently moved into my garden shed for my home office/studio and the result is super! Keep up the great work!

It looks nice... but I agree... I don't like that poll taking up so much room You could have done something like this guy did http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2007/09/lcd-monitor-arms.html where he mounts to the back of the desk and the monitors can be pulled toward you or pushed away as you want them.

Nice job on the rewiring.

Don,

How do you deal with all the tremendous heat generated by all that gear? It must be boiling hot in your office!
